Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 1, 2026
HoodHappening ("HoodHappening," "we," "us") operates hoodhappening.com, a free, location-first local events discovery site. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, how we use it, and the choices you have. HoodHappening does not require an account, login, or any personal information to use — you can search, browse, and click through to events entirely anonymously.
Information we collect
We do not require or ask for any personal information to use HoodHappening. Specifically:
- Location searches.When you type a town, city, or ZIP code, or use the "use my location" button, that location is sent to our server only to look up nearby events and is not stored linked to you or your device.
- Browser geolocation.If you choose "use my location," your browser asks your permission and shares your coordinates directly with the page — this uses your browser's own geolocation permission prompt, is never sent to us unless you trigger a search, and is not stored.
- Standard server logs and analytics.Like virtually every website, our hosting provider (Vercel) and analytics tools automatically log technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and pages visited, for security, performance monitoring, and understanding aggregate traffic. See "Analytics and third-party tools" below.
We do not have user accounts, do not require sign-up, and do not knowingly collect names, email addresses, or other directly-identifying personal information through the site itself.
Analytics and third-party tools
We use the following tools to understand how the site is used and to keep it running well:
- Vercel Analytics — collects aggregated, anonymized page-view and traffic data. It does not use cookies and does not track you across other sites.
- Vercel Speed Insights — collects performance metrics (load times, responsiveness) to help us keep the site fast. No personal data is collected.
- Google Analytics — if and when enabled, Google Analytics uses cookies to measure site usage. We will update this policy and, where required by law, request your consent before enabling cookie-based analytics for visitors in the EU/UK.
Event data and third-party sites
The events shown on HoodHappening are aggregated from many public sources — including ticketing platforms, event organizers, venues, municipal and government calendars, tourism boards, community groups, and public social media pages. We link directly to the original source for each event so you can view full details, purchase tickets, or RSVP.
We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or privacy practices of these third-party sites. Once you click through to an external site, that site's own privacy policy and terms apply, not this one. If an event listing is inaccurate, outdated, or should be removed, see our Contact page to let us know.
How we use information
We use the limited information described above only to:
- Return relevant local events for your search;
- Keep the site secure and functioning correctly;
- Understand aggregate usage patterns to improve the product;
- Diagnose and fix technical issues.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not have advertising trackers on the site today.
Data retention
We do not maintain user profiles or persistent identifiers tied to individual visitors. Standard hosting/analytics logs are retained only as long as needed for security and operational purposes, per our providers' standard retention windows.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws like the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to know what information is collected, to request deletion, or to opt out of certain processing. Because HoodHappening does not collect directly-identifying personal information through normal use of the site, most of these requests will have limited applicability — but if you have a question or request, contact us using the Contact page and we will respond.
Children's privacy
HoodHappening is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will address it.
Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect the site and its data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls on our backend systems. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be reflected here.
